Mavis!

"Mavis!" is the first feature-length documentary on gospel and soul music legend and civil rights icon Mavis Staples and her family group, the Staple Singers.

Mavis! is a must see biographical documentary on the life and times of Mavis Staples, one of Americas most unique and far reaching gospel and soul voices to date. At age 75, Mavis is still belting out the message of hope and salvation and this bio by director Jessica Edwards will warm your heart and inspire your soul. 

The Staple Singers, as they were known, were a family band with young Mavis Staples as one of the leading vocalists in the ensamble during an era where blues and soul rose to national prominece.

Staples was also an avid civil rights activist and used the movement for inspiration and lyrical content in many of there songs.
