Christine Goudie is excited about wheelchairs. And about how design can really help people. Goudie works in the realms of interdisciplinary medical product design.
In her talk at Design Indaba Conference 2011 she talks about “co-design” and the importance of involving the end user in the early stages of the design process.
In her work with wheelchair seating, Goudie developed a few prototypes to explore how she would approach this project, which had to look at various factors from adaptability and sustainability to material compression rates.
Events like this are one of the reason I love design because it's about starting a dialogue, sharing our vision and believing that creativity can affect positive change on a global scale – Christine Goudie
