Design Indaba Expo, a landmark event showcasing multi-disciplinary South African creativity, hosted 260 exhibitors in 2009, promoting established and emerging South Africa institutions, studios and designers to local and international buyers, visitors and media. The Design Indaba Expo added a number of new projects to its scope this year, including the Bowwow Exhibition, Pecha Kucha presentations by prominent South African creative minds, Western Cape Design Route, and the SOUTH exhibition, competition and film. Along with its annual Most Beautiful Object in South Africa competition, and all-day fashion and film shows, this inspiring three-day event welcomed more than 29 000 visitors.
