Easy monikers like publishing house, events business, PR business or ad agency would not do to describe Interactive Africa, which is perhaps best typified as commercial activists.
Using an eclectic skills base, Interactive Africa has advanced a resurgent South Africa through projects like the First African in Space mission, the African Connection Rally and the FIFA Soccer World Cup and Cape Town Olympic bids, as well as leveraging SA’s presence at events such as the Atlanta Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games.
Interactive Africa uses its unique amalgam of marketing and commercial savvy, project management and logistics prowess, as well as creative production services to promote South Africa. We believe that the biggest agent of change in Africa will be through skills transfer and trade – not aid.
It is this energy and passion for South Africa that’s inspired the creation of Design Indaba, now encompassing a conference, expo, magazine, education initiative, development trust and more. Design Indaba believes that a better world can be designed, and we put this to the test through the Design Indaba 10x10 Low-Cost Housing and 10x10 Industrial projects. Another in-house project, the African Carbon Trust, aims to accelerate a low-carbon economy.
Interactive Africa also services an impressive list of corporate clients including Vodacom, Woolworths, FIFA and the South African Local Organising Committee for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.
