Your Street: Welcome to Risør

On Wednesday 6 March 2013 the latest Your Street Challenge was officially opened to a full house at the Culture Park in Risør, Norway.

Part of the Project

To date the Your Street Challenge has taken over streets in cities across South Africa, as well as in Eindhoven in the Netherlands, and now we have our second international challenge.  The challenge kicked off with a special event hosted by the Mayor of Risor, Per Lundun, and the Director of Norsk Form, Andreas Vaa Bermann , which included an inspirational talk given by architect Lin Skaufel from Gehl Architects, Copenhagen and finished with a panel discussion with the audience.

Community developer Hell Sigrid Erdal Garth explained Risor’s excitement at the coming Challenge, “The municipality is trying to redefine municipal planning to create more involvement and support. We also want to raise awareness so that residents can be making great places. It's exciting that everyone can have the opportunity to suggest projects.”

Risør has allocated a prize pool of £ 12,500 going to the implementation of the projects. For that sum to 2 to 4 winning projects can be realized. The city itself will provide guidance and facilitation and will be responsible for project implementation.

Deadline for submissions is 17 April 2013. The entry form is available here
