The Tissue Culture and Art Project by Oron Catts and Ionat Zurr explores the use of tissue technologies as a medium for artistic expression. Growing steaks using tissue engineering techniques, the Semi Living Steak was made from pre-natal sheep skeletal muscle, while a frog steak was grown in Disembodied Cuisine. Since then, they’ve gone on to explore the tissue engineering of a stitchless jacket grown from a living layer of tissue in their Victimless Leather prototype.
