Lively forest

Jason Bruges Studio has designed an installation that engages and interacts playfully with young patients at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Surgery is never a fun experience, but encountering a magical forest filled with birds, horses, hedgehogs and frogs, the journey to the operating theatre becomes  at least a bit more fun and interesting for young patients.

Jason Bruges Studio have installed an interactive art installation at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London that aims to distract and calm young patients before entering the operating theatre.

The Nature Trail is made up of a customised graphic wall paper and 7 200 LED bulbs embedded into 70 LED panels. The studio placed sensors into the ceiling, which brings to life a variety of three-dimensional animals when sensing movement below.

The large-scale interactive distraction art installation runs on both sides of the hospital’s 50-metre long corridors, transporting patients, up to the age of 16 years, into a magical forest filled with birds, horses, hedgehogs and frogs. The Nature Trail is hospital grade and easy to clean.

Jason Bruges Studio hopes to install a second installation in 2017.
