Live transformation

Designer Paul Cocksedge transforms old LP records into smartphone sound amplifiers.

As part of Bloomberg Summer at the Roundhouse in London designer Paul Cocksedge will be doing a live performance to music.

Change the Record on 27 August 2011 will see Cocksedge heating and moulding old LPs to give them new life as vinyl speakers that amplify the music played from smartphones.

The records are formed into a funnel shape. Simply placing the smartphones inside the funnel works to amplify the sound coming from the phone’s speakers.

Visitors are welcome to bring along their own records to have it transformed by Cocksedge.

Also at Bloomberg Summer, Ron Arad will be creating his unique Curtain Call installation.
