Imaginary museum

Jon Stam's"Imaginary Museum" is an exhibition that can be viewed anywhere and at any time.

Jon Stam’s “Imaginary Museum” takes on the form of a bioscope to provide users with a hand-held exhibition highlighting the networked culture of today.

Jon Stam, who made his international debut as a Pech Kucha speaker during Design Indaba Conference 2009, is a 2013 recipient of the W Hotels Designers of the Future Award for his creation that captures the current fascination with networking across various platforms in an exhibition format.

By simply holding the bioscope to one’s eyes, an exhibition emerges due to micro LCD screens, which allows one to experience natural and hard-copy goods in a digital networked format. Stam curated an array of digital collections for his project that can be viewed when the master disk is inserted into the bioscope.

The project is a contemporary way to experience digital artefacts in a well-established arrangement.

“Imaginary Museum” will be presented at Design Miami from 11 to 16 June 2013.
