Emerging Creatives: Earn Your National Design Colours

Young Designers: Kick start your career at Design Indaba Expo 2010!

Part of the Project

Apply now to be a part of the Design Indaba Expo 2010 Emerging Creatives Programme. The programme is open to all students in a creative faculty at a tertiary institution in South Africa, as well as young designers who are in the process of establishing their own design service or business.

For the selected Emerging Creatives, the Design Indaba Trust offers a full sponsorship to show at the Design Indaba Expo, the quintessential showcase of South African design, as well as a ticket to the Young Designers Simulcast of the Design Indaba Conference. Be exposed to the best in the business, including international buyers and media, and be inspired by leading designers from around the world.

In 2009 we received amazing feedback from our Emerging Creatives, who provided us with information to compile the following statistics:

  • On average, each Emerging Creative sold over R7 000 worth of goods on the Design Indaba Expo floor and made sales of approximately R10 000 after the Expo.
  • Roughly 65% of the Emerging Creatives made invaluable contact with local and international buyers. Many of these contacts resulted in sales and jobs.
  • 62% of Emerging Creatives have had one or more job offers directly due to Expo. Many of the freelance designers have had multiple offers.
  • Besides the media coverage provided by Design Indaba itself, over 54% of our Emerging Creatives received media coverage in the form of images or articles in many well-known publications.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 14 December 2009
