Dramatically digital

René Twigge’s digital artworks merge abstract and pop art in a very vibrant way.

From the Series

René Twigge creates digital art that’s infused with rich and vibrant colour. Her work depicts indigenous flora, botany and fuses it with elements of abstract and pop art

She uses the digital medium to imitate paint techniques such as oil layering, impasto and blending. A variety of visual sources such as photography, graphic design and illustration, are combined and reworked. Some elements are subtracted to create digital art works bear an uncanny relationship to traditional forms of painting.

Inspired by the digital medium, Twigge believes that it can function beyond the constraints of more traditional mediums while also allowing her to include new bright and neon colour pallets.
