In the wings at Milan2011

Posted on April 5th 2011

"Waiting for... GLASSTRESS 2011" at Milan2011 is a preview of a "waiting-in-the-wings" exhibition for the Venice Biennale.

“GLASSTRESS 2011” is an initiative of the Venice Project and the Museum of Art and Design in New York, a preview of which can been seen at the Milan Furniture Fair from 12 to 17 April 2011. “Waiting for… GLASSTRESS 2011” showcases some of the works of contemporary artists working in glass, which will also be seen at the Venice Biennale from June to November 2011.

Taking place at Ventura Lambrate with Li Edelkoort as co-curator, the exhibition will feature the work of artists and designers including Jaime Hayón, Patricia Urquiola, Silvano Rubino, Kiki van Eijk, Vik Muniz and more.

Patricia Urquiola

There’s very little Patricia Urquiola hasn’t turned her hand to in the field of design. Since establishing her studio in 2001, her prolific output has found markets through brands such as De Padova, B&B Italia, Alessi, Driade, Kartell, Flos and Moroso.

Li Edelkoort

Li Edelkoort is a trend forecaster, educator, curator and publisher based in Paris. She has fostered design’s creative talent as chairwoman of the Design Academy Eindhoven between 1998 and 2008.

Jaime Hayón

Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayón was born in Madrid in 1974. As a teenager, he submerged himself in skateboard culture and graffiti art, which has formed the foundation of the detailed, bold-yet-whimsical imagery so imminent in his work today.
