Illustrator Christoph Niemann’s new blog at the New York Times created a frenzy of attention when he published these illustrations of travelling with his sons on the subway. “I have always been very reluctant to have even the hint of my personal life enter my drawings. However, when I started talking about doing a blog, I realised that in order to succeed, the stories would have to be personal. My biggest concern was to avoid saying ‘Look at my kids, they are sooo special’. Instead I tried to find that little detail of our lives that makes us happy, and that a lot of other people can relate to,” explained Niemann, still somewhat surprised by the attention.
