Jaime Hayón’s new range of porcelain tableware emphasises the value of gathering around a dinner table with friends and family.

"Kamide Choemon – Game" is Jaime Hayón’s range of porcelain tableware for the traditional Japanese porcelain company Choemon. Designed in collaboration with product design brand Maruwakaya, the range interprets elements of the traditional and gives it a contemporary feel.

Comprising hand-painted delicate Japanese ornaments, Choemon hopes the series will work to make people re-evaluate the importance of gathering around a dinner table. Each piece features unique artwork by Hayón, particularly inspired by Japanese dinner table traditions.

Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayón was born in Madrid in 1974. As a teenager, he submerged himself in skateboard culture and graffiti art, which has formed the foundation of the detailed, bold-yet-whimsical imagery so imminent in his work today.
