The Sex Lives of Animals is the first natural history exhibition in the US to explore non-reproductive sexual behavior in animals.


The Sex Lives of Animals is the first natural history exhibition in the US to explore non-reproductive sexual behavior in animals. Designed by Pentagram designers Michael Bierut and Jennifer Kinon, the exhibition features National Geographic-like photography and video clips as well as five specially commissioned life-sized animal sculptures by Brooklyn-based Norwegian artist Rune Olsen.

Michael Bierut

Michael Bierut was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and studied graphic design at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. Prior to joining Pentagram as a partner in 1990, he was vice president of graphic design at Vignelli Associates.
