Needle & thread

Simple yet effective. Pentagram designed the identity for the new Fashion Law Institute.

Putting the term “fashion” and “law” together probably feels a bit counter-intuitive but the new Fashion Law Institute is partnering the two and putting a cool Pentagram-designed identity on it.

Increasingly the fashion industry have to deal with issues of copying, counterfeit imports, environmental sustainability and even consumer safety so fashion designers need to know the ins and outs of the law. The Fashion Law Institute at the Fordham Law School in New York is new centre that trains and guides both designers and lawyers around the law governing the fashion industry.

Under the creative leadership of Michael Beirut, Pentagram’s identity for the institute comprises a gavel fashioned with a needle and spool of thread.
