The Truncheon family of lamps, designed by Commonwealth, are a distinct mix of traditional materials and modern technology. The range consists of a suspension, an articulated task lamp and a freestanding Truncheon that needs to be rested against a wall.
The structure of the Truncheon is made out of maple wood while the production of the lamp used advanced CNC-milling techniques to carve out a precise shape. The lamps all use advanced energy-efficient LED bulbs which are warm in colour but cool to touch.
The base of the Truncheon task lamp is made using gypsum and marble. The heaviness of the base, which is free of electrical components, allows the arm of the lamp to make a soft rotation. The simple intricacy of the suspension and leaning wall lamp further complement the Truncheon family.
The Truncheons adhere to their namesake as clear, compact sticks fashioned out of traditional materials. The Truncheons were developed for American furniture label MatterMade and are available exclusively through them.
