Lighting the way

Posted on February 3rd 2011

Karim Rashid’s Cross Lamp consists of countless small figures joined together to create an iconic symbol.

Karim Rashid’s Cross Lamp was created in collaboration with Dutch company Freedom of Creation, who specialise in advanced 3D printing technologies.

The Cross Lamp is available in suspension form or as a table lamp, and was first presented at Imm Cologne 2011 in Paris recently.

As a symbol for “Globalove” the Cross Lamp features some of Rashid’s most memorable icons. He says: “I thought to make a hyper-collage of my icons as a lit object, in changing scale and mass to create diverse shadows and light filtration, to really make one overriding blobular 3D cross form, which is my symbol for Globalove.”
