Joule on South African roads by 2010

Posted on May 14th 2009

South Africa's first locally designed and manufactured electric car is ready for production.

South Africans can look forward to pilot fleets of the Joule electric car on their roads and around the globe from 2010 onwards, with mass production making it widely available from 2012. Designed by renowned South African car designer Keith Helfet for Cape Town-based company Optimal Energy, the multi-purpose urban passenger vehicle promises to dispel the myths that electric cars are unsightly and sluggish.
