Dipped at Milan2011

Posted on April 7th 2011

Dip in Space is a showcase and celebration of student work created in a workshop led by Matali Crasset.

Exploring a new way of creating and standardising space, Dip in Space presents the work of students in fashion design and interior architecture of the Geneva University of Art and Design at the Milan Furniture Fair from 12 to 17 April 2011.

The works were created during a series of workshops led by Matali Crasset and Alexandra Midal

Dip is Space represents two worlds. The first, with its glowing red magma, reflects the mind of the designer in full ferment while the second “world” invites visitors to experiment with the invention and production of forms in a fun and convivial way.

Visitors are invited to dip support into wax-filled containers. Next they withdraw an unique object from the container, one at a time. The spaces which are produced then go on to form a collective work in progress, or “a quasi-organic space".

"Dip is Space celebrates the plasticity of matter and the amusing creation of forms.”
