Clowning around

Containers are often very boring, purely functional objects. Tomas Kral has added a playful element to his new collection of jars.

It is not immediately obvious what the function is of Swiss designer Tomas Kral’s new ceramic series is. Is it a vase or is it a jar? For the bathroom or the living room? It doesn’t really matter because it adds a fun element to wherever you choose to place this object.

The Clown Nose series is inspired by the red nose clown, says Kral. The cork cover, which serves as a plug, is connected to the ceramic container with a coloured elastic.

Tomas Kral

Tomas Kral completed his Masters in Luxury Design at ECAL, Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2009. The Slovakian-born, Swiss-based product designer has since opened his own studio and finds inspiration by observing people’s needs and everyday situations with humour and distance.
