The Cape Craft and Design Institute took part on the dti stand at Ambiente, the annual German exhibition held in February. On the South African pavilion there were 14 companies, four of which were from the Western Cape. Despite the international economic crisis, a number of companies did very well at the show. The SA pavilion recorded over 200 trade enquiries during the show. “The German market is very receptive to South African handmade products. Some of the first time exhibitors got test orders from German buyers – a testimony to the strong potential for their products within those markets,” said the CCDI.
