Both sides at Milan2011

Posted on April 9th 2011

Matali Crasset’s Double Side table/seat is great for both work and play. Check it out at Milan2011.

The Double Side chair/table by Matali Crasset for Italian brand Danese is ideally suited to both active and passive situations.

This versatile object will be on show at the Milan Furniture Fair from 12 to 17 April 2011. One simple flip transforms this design into an active surface with a small plane that can be used for working, eating or playing.

Constructed using a birch multilayer laminate together with a combination of felt, Crasset designed the Double Side as an object, rather giving it a fixed (seating) function.

Double Side is ultimately an open furniture solution. Crasset says: “At home today the structures are fixed, like a paused video with a paused picture, life is changing and it's in movement and it reactivates the video so to speak. My projects work in the interstices of the activities, in passages between one paused picture to another in order to reattach them to one another and to renew the movement and the action in between the spaces.”
