Alheit Ströh is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our objective is to deliver artworks with integrity to society, which comment on the world at large – not to produce just another “décor vegetable”. The pieces need to provoke thought for the viewer who wants to engage. We see our work as blurring the boundary between traditional craft and fine art. Our ceramic products are all one-off pieces, handmade by South African Alheit Ströh. All works are documented and signed for future reference, comprising materials that are locally sourced where possible, adhere to fair trade and are proudly South African. Some items incorporate recycled found and ready-made articles. The concept development, design and manufacture are all "MADE IN" South Africa. The current project material includes traditional ceramic earthenware (paper clay) with added sterling silver trimmings and found or ready-made articles.
