Totemism: Memphis Meets Africa at Design Indaba Expo 2013

Li Edelkoort's Totemism: Memphis Meets Africa exhibition at Design Indaba Expo 2013 revealed strong parallels between South African design and what came about from the Memphis design movement of the 1980s. 

The exhibition used the concept of totems and stacked objects to highlight the power of merging, layering and expressing various cultures and, in doing so, showcased the similarities across cultures and people.
