The brotherly design duo Markus and Daniel Freitag from Switzerland make the most gorgeous handbags from used truck tarpaulins.
The Freitag Fake Snake Collection comprise one-of-a-kind bags cut from used truck tarp (a waterproof canvas). Some 648 pieces of tarp comprise one bag, each of which is assembled and laced together during a process which takes six hours. The end result looks like snake skin, only more environmentally friendly.
Freitag produced just ten bags for each colourway. They are available in two different sizes at Freitag’s shops around Europe and in New York.
Many of Freitag’s designs over the past 20 years have been inspired by trucks and lorries, with collections made from car seat belts, recycled airbags and inner tubes and wires of bicycles.
