Leading South African ceramicists have been performing feats of clay abroad

Widely respected on their home turf, Clementina van der Walt and Hennie Meyer were selected to show at the inaugural Ceramic Art London exhibition in 2005. Now presented annually at the Royal College of Art by The Craft Potters Association, the event is a showcase of the world's leading contemporary ceramicists. Of the 350 applicants, only 80 artists were selected to show at this international event.

What's more, our talented pair will return to Ceramic Art London in March 2006. Luckily for local audiences, both designers will be showing at the Design Indaba Expo in February before jetting off to London.

Also gaining an international following, this time in the export market, is the princess of porcelain, the Elle Decoration International Design Award Winner, Lisa Firer, who brings her exquisite tea lights and wall-mounted lamps to the Design Indaba Expo for the first time in 2006. The Expo will also be honoured by the first-time presence of talents like Anthony Shapiro of Loren and Ant and Karen Kotze, who lend the event stature as a venue for serious ceramic art.
