Design Indaba Expo exhibitor Quazi Design has been announced as a DESIGN LEADER finalist in the SOURCE Awards 2013.
Known for transforming waste magazines into one-of-a-kind accessories, interior products and décor objects, the Swaziland-based design studio continually pushes the boundaries of craft.
Along with its sustainable approach to design, the studio is dedicated to empowering local residents in Swaziland. There are skills-sharing programmes and employees earn permanent incomes.
The SOURCE Awards has recognised Quazi Design’s capacity for outstanding design to change lives, change perceptions on craft and raise awareness around sustainability in the fashion industry.
The judging criteria involves looking at companies and designers that have combined design innovation with a commitment to social and environmental goals, says Doron Shaltiel, Quazi Design director.
The winners will be announced on 3 December 2013 at the House of Lords in London, United Kingdom.
