Public light

A light installation on the façade of the Zeilgalerie in Frankfurt hopes to make this building an architectural highlight in the city.

German transdisciplinary design studio 3deluxe recently won a Red Dot Award for their redesign of the Frankfurt Zeilgalerie, in the category information design/public space.

The Zeilgalerie is one of the city’s most famed shopping streets and was redesigned to make it an architectural focus point.

A spectacular light installation was installed on the façade of the Zeilgalerie. In black and white colouring, the lights form a filigree ornamentation while the interaction of architecture and graphic design work to turn this once-postmodern building into a highlight on Frankfurt’s urban landscape.

The lights are dynamically programmed to illuminate the complexly composed façade.
