News: New Angle

British fashion designer Paul Smith brings his playful palette to the iconic Anglepoise lamp.

Renowned British fashion designer Paul Smith once again turns his attention to product design in a new collaboration with Anglepoise.

Anglepoise + Paul Smith sees a stunning interpretation of the classic Anglepoise Type75 table lamp originally designed in 1932 by automotive engineer George Carwardine. The aluminium lamp, now designed by Kenneth Grange, provides a perfect canvas for Smith's quirky, colourful stamp.

The limited edition features a multi-coloured supporting arm in pale pink, pale blue, olive green, yellow and fuchsia - Smith's signature palette of discordant yet complementary colours.

It has been brilliant to work on this project. Anglepoise is such an iconic piece of British design and I am honoured to have been involved, says Smith.

The limited edition Anglepoise Type75 will be available for purchase from both Anglepoise and Paul Smith stores from 12 September 2014 and will be on display at designjunction from 17 to 21 September 2014 in London.
