The new collection by Eva Sonaike takes its inspiration from West African modernism

Eva Sonaike, a London based lifestyle brand, has produced the Falomo collection, another luxurious series of home accessories inspired by African architecture.

Founded by Eva Sonaike, the eponymous brand draws inspiration from the two distinct influences of colourful African textile culture and European antique and mid century furniture traditions.

Tropical Modernism, the mid-century architecture of West Africa, inspired Falomo, the latest collection from Sonaike. From the late 40s to the early 70s Tropical Modernism combined Western building styles and local building traditions to reflect a newfound confidence and pride in African nations after colonialism.

Sonaike, a graduate of the London College of Fashion, designed the textiles. She opted for soft pink and forest green geometric patterns and unbroken lines to represent the spirit of movement, development and progress that Tropical Modernism symbolised in West Africa post-colonialism.

The collection includes Sonaike's signature style cushions, the comfortable pouffes, the colourful make-up bags and the new lampshades – handmade in the United Kingdom.
