We all want to live smarter and more efficiently but sometimes the daily to-do’s mean that it is easier said than done.

But what if we got our neighbours to help us out with those mundane must-do’s, like shopping for groceries, signing for deliveries or assembling furniture? TaskRabbit is your friend, or app, in need and in deed.

TaskRabbit is an online and mobile marketplace, a so-called "service networking platform", that allows users to help one another get things done.

TaskRabbit connects "TaskPosters", people who need help, with "TaskRabbits", a network of pre-approved and background-checked individuals who have the time and skills needed to complete the job.

Typical TaskRabbits are students, stay-at-home parents and retirees, who all have to go through screening tests to become a TaskRabbit. TaskPosters, on the other hand, are the people that need tasks done. They need to fill in an online form stating what they need done and how much they would be willing to pay for it. The TaskRabbits then bid to complete that specific task and the TaskPoster chooses the TaskRabbit best suited to the job to get it done.

Conceptualised and developed by Leah Busque, a former IBM developer, the TaskRabbit has been making people’s lives easier since 2008, and has been nominated for an INDEX: Award 2013
