The Association for Visual Arts (AVA) has partnered with Spier for the Own Goal exhibition, which runs until 25 June at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town.

Curated by the AVA football club, the Own Goal exhibition is a reflection of personal and collective goals, rather than a reference to an accident in a soccer game. The different works aim to capture the psychology of the particular moment when a goal is achieved or a milestone is reached or identified.

Participating artists include Kevin Brand, Katherine Bull, Connor Cullinan, Justin Fiske, Jonathan Garnham, Xolani Moshani, Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi, Anet Noval and Ed Young, among many others.

The AVA is one of the oldest non-profit art galleries in Cape Town, focusing on contemporary South African art across various mediums. Their particular emphasis is on visual art, and established and emerging artists from the Western Cape.
