Installation in motion

Imagine South Africa, soccer and three models climbing out of a wall… A large scale and site-specific installation by designer Clive Rundle, in collaboration with artist Mark Erasmus and producer Savannah Erasmus, showed recently at Addictlab’s temporary exhibition space at Design Quarter in Johannesburg. The installation saw three top models, standing behind a painted canvas wall, being zipped into dresses made of the same canvas that had been sewn into the wall so seamlessly that they were hardly visible. Once zipped in, they started to break through the seams, finally emerging fully dressed, topped with South Africa’s makaraba football hats.
