History, burning

Faith47's first solo exhibition, Fragments of a Burnt History, at David Krut Projects in Johannesburg, interprets daily life in this bustling city.

From the Series

It might be an old cliché, that a picture speaks a thousand words, but in the case of Faith47’s work, it rings poignantly true.

Her first solo exhibition, Fragments of a Burnt History, runs until 19 January 2013, at David Krut Projects in Johannesburg.

Fragments of a Burnt History consists of an installation of found objects and artwork created in Faith47’s studio, together with a series of monotypes produced together with the David Krut Print Workshop.

The work presented in the exhibition reflects Faith47’s experience of the city of Johannesburg. As such, she interprets the energy and the endless possibilities, as well as the harsh realities of daily life, telling “a real, hard and beautifully sad story”.
