The Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) are calling on craft producers to submit entries for the organisation’s prestigious 2011 Handmade Collection.
The collection showcases the top 100 pieces of handmade work in the Western Cape, using mediums ranging from ceramics, wood, leather and metal to wax, beads and copper wire.
The chosen products will be launched at an exhibition at the 2011 Design Indaba Expo. After the event the products will shown at various conferences, exhibitions and creative venues, and complemented by a glossy full-colour catalogue.
High quality, creativity and innovation are some of the selection criteria for inclusion into the collection, explains the CCDI’s Marjorie Naidoo. “Many leading designer makers and craft artists have cited their inclusion in earlier CCDI Handmade Collections as milestones in their careers that have led to commissions and raised their profiles considerably.”
Entries need to be submitted by 3 December 2010. Visit the CCDI for more information.
