Dark Horse is the name of the newest furniture and apparel shop to grace the design landscape of the Mother City.
It was the passion for design and the need for affordable, yet stylish furniture that led owner and designer Lise du Plessis to open shop. Having studied interior design, traveled widely and researched extensively, Du Plessis was able to compile a catalogue of designs that demonstrates a keen spatial understanding.
The Dark Horse range includes table designs, seating, lights, storage solutions and apparel bags, which can easily be made to work in smaller spaces. Dark Horse supports environmentally conscious design, and uses locally produced materials and manufacturers.
One of Dark Horse’s designs which stand out is the ZigZag trolley. The ZigZag trolley is mobile sheet-metal storage unit with epoxy coating with non-slip recycled rubber mats. It’s ideal as a magazine rack, bedside table, bathroom cabinet or for use in the office.
