Edgy bling

Design Indaba Expo 2010: Anglo Gold Ashanti Gold Couture winner Tiffany Marx moulds precious metals into beautiful pieces of work.

Tiffany Marx’s interest in art and design began long before she ever began moulding precious metals into beautiful pieces of work. Her grandfather was an artist and as a child she was always drawing, painting and making things. She was first introduced to jewellery when she took it as a subject at school and quite simply, Marx struck gold.

Having studied at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Marx launched her debut collection, Inspired Jewellery, at the 2007 Design Indaba Expo. Working in silver, gold and platinum, her edgy designs and modern interpretations of nature remain wearable, striking a balance between play and functionality.

She has been a two-time finalist in the Anglo Gold Ashanti Gold Couture competition and won in 2009 for the designs she manufactured with boyfriend Brett Bouwer. Marx will be exhibiting her latest jewellery range once again at this year’s Design Indaba Expo, which promises to fresh and exciting, suiting individual styles with a touch of her usual Marx edge.

“I have been exhibiting at the Design Indaba for the past three years and look forward to every show. It’s a real honour to be part of a show of such high calibre and also so uniquely South African,” says Marx.
