Cross # Towers

The hashtag shape of a new apartment block in Korea, by BIG Architects, is not inspired by the Twittersphere, but a response to height restrictions.

From the Series

“Cross # Towers” is the name of a new towering apartment block in Seoul, South Korea, designed by Danish architects BIG. The hashtag in the title’s project name is a reference to the shape of the building.

The hashtag shape was conceived in response to height restrictions which prevented the architects from making the buildings taller, so instead they added two bridging blocks to the design.

Cross # Towers will have more than 600 apartments, a library, a kindergarten and gallery space, while roof gardens will cover the surface of both the bridging blocks.
