Experimentadesign installation by Sagmeister

Dutch police confiscated Stefan Sagmeister’s installation for Droog at Experimentadesign in Amsterdam during September. Made from 300 000 eurocent coins in four shades of copper, the text field took 150 volunteers three days to layout. Local residents alerted the police after they noticed people sweeping up the coins. The police themselves then collected the coins to prevent the artwork from being stolen. “We knew that somebody would do something like rearrange the coins or take them away, but we didn’t expect the police to take them away,” explained a Droog spokeswoman.
