Balanced

A selection of designers join forces to strike an elegant balance between industrial process and contemporary craft for the new "Herman Miller Collection"

Recognising the innovator in contemporary interior furnishings, Herman Miller’s new collection reveals a comprehensive portfolio that is both elegant and casual.

Taking inspiration from the legendary architect and designer George Nelson’s vision of “a permanent collection designed to meet fully the requirements for modern living”, a true balance between beauty and comfort in furniture design has been achieved.

Herman Miller Collection encompasses creations from past and present furniture designers in order to outline and highlight timeless design principles. Through this, the aim of the collection is to allow a look at furniture in a broader context. Bridging past and present designers, the Herman Miller Collection serves as a wide-ranging collection of work, from 1950s designers Charles and Ray Eames to contemporary designers Stefano Giovannoni, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Jasper Morrison and Marcel Wanders.

The collection draws on design sketches from the industrial era and combines them with the latest technologies and materials. Through this, the Herman Miller Collection both moves forward yet remains grounded in quality craftsmanship, thoughtfulness, individual touches and attention to detail.

The Herman Miller Collection successfully balances aspiration and accessibility, sculpture and engineering, and elegance and informality.
