The Horse Marionette and Rocking Springbuck are two of Michaella Janse van Vuuren's latest creations, both designed with CAD software.

Known for her creations that exist at the intersection of art and science, Michaella Janse van Vuuren has two new designs which were both digitally designed using CAD software.

The Horse Marionette was 3D printed in nylon using selective laser sintering. All the parts for the horse were placed in the same file so it didn’t need to be assembled afterwards. The Horse Marionette has fully functional joints and movable wings. Janse van Vuuren says it took her ages to design: “I had no idea if the horse would move as I envisioned but I think it has taken on a life of its own.”

The Rocking Springbuck was also designed with CAD software and 3D printed in Nylon. These works can be seen at the Grande Provence Gallery in Franschhoek until 25 May 2011.
