Insta-Byble

A Bible experience for the Instagram generation.

Designer Dylan Da Silva has redesigned the Bible visual experience to resonate with the Instagram generation – his new project Byble, transforms the traditional text into a clean, contemporary typographic design system that allows readers to foster a deeper connection with the text. By integrating contemporary aesthetics, "Byble" seeks to bridge the gap between ancient teachings and modern sensibilities aiming to make the scriptures more accessible and appealing to younger readers.

To achieve his vision, Da Silva’s Byble Project is reinventig the Bible’s structure by releasing each book as an individual volume, starting with Genesis. The book’s title is prominently featured on the spine and cover in debossed Grotesk type – a nod to the Gutenberg Bible. Drawing visual references from the historic Gutenberg Bible—Da Silva’s design features columns, generous margins, and occasional typographic flourishes—blending the classic layout technique with contemporary visual design. To encourage resonant reading moments, he uses pull quotes, translucent overlays, and striking all-caps spreads, which the brand refers to as “yield” moments—hence the “Y” in “Byble.” This approach slows the reading pace, giving the text room to breathe and making the monumental 783,000-word collection less overwhelming.

Da Silva’s redesign is not merely about aesthetics; he views it as an invitation to explore spirituality through a fresh lens. His approach underscores the potential of design to rejuvenate interest in timeless narratives.

"Byble" stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design in making age-old wisdom resonate in today's fast-paced, aesthetic-driven world
