The Bank - a full design collaborative in The Fringe, Cape Town’s Innovation District - houses five uniquely different design companies and a team of freelancing entrepreneurs across various design disciplines. Living The Bank’s slogan “creativity exchange”, The Bank is the first entity of its nature in The Fringe where individual companies have clipped into a bigger entity to facilitate the exchange of creative ideas, pooled experience, networking and opportunities.

A fun play on the building’s past, this sturdy piece of pre 1950’s architecture, including a rather impressive vault deep in its foundations, was The First National Bank Cape Town Headquarters until it closed its doors in 2005. Today, this bank has been given a second lease on life, and rebranded accordingly, but with creativity as its commodity, not South African Rands.
