The hot new +27 Design Cafe in Pretoria recently showcased Andre Pereira’s most renowned works of Gig Art. A live performance by highly anticipated up-and-coming band Wrestlerish, and a visual diary compiled by new-kids-on-the-block Welovepictures, the exhibition was greatly received.
Pereira is a 25-year-old designer and illustrator. He began his path in design and approach to art at the age of 20, after a two-year learning curve in the UK, after which he enrolled at the Open Window design school in Pretoria. During his third and final year he started designing his renowned, ever-growing brand of "gig art".
Music has always been a passion for Pereira, who is also a founding member of award-winning band Andre van der Walt. Recently, Oppikoppi Productions invited him to contribute a design to their Oppikoppi: Smoorverlief festival grounds.
He is also currently busy animating the debut music videos for Wrestlerish and, his own new musical project, Sesling. The Sesling video will be an exciting and cutting-edge video done by Etiket, the multi-nominated design company for which Pereira works.
