For many people one of the delights of summertime is lying on the beach with a book. So how great would it be if there was a library right there on the beach?
Matali Crasset' Beach Library is exactly that – a library on the beach!
The French designer created a tempoary, shaded structure that functions as a pop-up library for the Romaniquette beach in the city of Isres in France.
With shaded retreats around the outside of the library, on the inside beachgoers will find a selection of books to suit every taste. Inside the books are displayed in such a way that onlookers and passers-by only really get a glimpse of what's inside, rather encouraging them to come inside to see it all.
The selection of books in the Beach Library was curated by Crasset herself. Titles include some of her personal favourites, as well as global bestsellers. Books can either be bought or hired by beachgoers, with the selection seeking to provide titles across genres, as well as for all age groups.
The Beach Library is open until 15 September 2013.
