Templa, in partnership with ALLIED Feather + Down, is set to launch a revolutionary biodegradable down puffer jacket that is engineered to decompose within approximately five years in anaerobic conditions. The sustainable design tackles fashions longterm impact on the environment minimizing landfill fashion waste whilst shifting to more sustainable decommissioning processes. ‘Not only is it biodegradable, but it is recyclable and boasts an exceedingly low carbon footprint as a raw material. It’s the perfect insulation to combine with biodegradable fabrics and trims,’ says Matthew Betcher, creative director with ALLIED Feather + Down. The outer design achieves over 99% biodegradability, setting a new benchmark in responsible material development.
The puffer jacket is crafted with 800-fill power down insulation and is integrated with biodegradable synthetic fabrics and trims. The jacket is expected to retail from September 2025. The pioneering, sustainable design aligns to ALLIED Feather + Down’s ‘Future Now’ initiative, a program dedicated to progressing biomaterial-based recyclable outerwear. Templa’s Founding Partner Anati Rakocz, the innovation reaffirms a commitment to meaningful change, proving that aesthetics, performance, and environmental responsibility can seamlessly coexist.
