Designer Terry Angelos creates by merging nature and humour

South African artist Terry Angelos designs wall art and homeware using nature and her quirky side as inspiration.

“I enjoy the contradictions in life, where you’ve got an open field next to a prison, next to a shopping centre,” jokes South African designer Terry Angelos whose quirky take on life inspires an ethereal range of bedroom linen, blankets, scatter cushions and wall art.

The KwaZulu-Natal based, Zimbabwean-born creative calls herself a nature freak, influenced by a childhood spent delighting in the bush surrounding her childhood home.

In her work, she aims to merge the beauty of nature and the environment with her edgy humour.

“At second glance you realise it’s a little bit edgy,” she says of her work. “It goes from the scope of things that are very natural and beautiful right down to things that are on the more tattoo vibe, a little bit more quirky.”

Angelos’ father was an art teacher but she claims to have been influenced by her mother. She describes her mother as a creative person who made clothes, toys and more for the family.

Angelos’ collection has featured in Mr Price Home's Colab range, a unique range of homeware aimed at celebrating South African creatives.
