From the Series

It’s only natural that restaurants serving exemplary cuisine should only make use of the finest tableware.

For this reason the dinner sets of three of South Africa’s top restaurants, all in the gorgeous Franschhoek area, have been made by somebody who is also on top of his game.

David Walters, one of the country’s most distinguished potters, has worked with some top chefs to create bespoke pieces that would enhance their particular style of cooking.

David Higgs of the acclaimed Rust en Vrede restaurant was one of the first to establish a partnership with Walters to ensure that the plates and bowls his superb cuisine is served on does justice to the food.

Higgs’s excitement about Walters’s work saw him directing restaurant guests to Walters’s Ceramic Studio. Other top restaurants that now make use of Walters’s bespoke dinnerware are Jordan Wine Estate and The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Francais.
