Camp van

Old camper vans are transformed into funky live/work spaces (complete with surf racks) by Jay Nelson.

San Francisco-based artist Jay Nelson loves tinkering and transforming things, working with given design restrictions, to create something funky but functional.

One example of Nelson’s creative work is the old Honda that he turned into a live/work space (with surf racks), using plywood and more than a bit of imagination. He also does this to rowboats, mopeds and bicycles, resulting each time is something resembling a geodesic dome.

After Nelson makes the plywood structure he covers it in fiberglass and then cuts out the windows. Finally the structures are waterproofed.

The range of campers that Nelson renovated are all fully mobile so it really would be possible to live and work in them.
